\begin{align} \frac{\partial\rho}{\partial t} + \nabla \cdot (\rho \mathbf{u}) = 0 \end{align}

Caption: The continuity equation, an example of SCP-XXXX-1.

Object Class: Thaumiel

Special Containment Procedures: Due to the potential for SCP-XXXX-1 to reveal the existence of the anomalous, alpha or beta-class instances discovered by civilian scientists are to be reviewed MTF Delta-1 ("Mathemagicians"). SCP-XXXX-1 instances not qualifying for public release are to be suppressed. All discovered alpha, beta, gamma, and delta-class instances are to be cataloged in Document XXXX-92.

SCP-XXXX is to be kept on a secure server at Site-19. Only personnel with level 4 clearances are permitted to know about or utilize SCP-XXXX. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 may be created to assist with containment of other SCPs, but researchers using the equation(s) must hold level 3 or higher clearances and be amneticized following the incident.

Description: SCP-XXXX-1 describes equations derived from SCP-XXXX, which can be utilized to determine whether a given phenomenon, object, or relationship is anomalous. Any equations which yield a true or consistent statement are mundane, whereas results that are false, inconsistent, impossible, intractible, [REDACTED] or results that are anomalous themselves are anomalies. Due to the general difficulty in producing SCP-XXXX-1 instances that are suitable for a particular object, most SCPs are classified as such using common sense or comparisons to known-anomalous phenomenon.

SCP-XXXX is a Richardson-Davies differential equation which describes reality. It was discovered in 18██ while performing an experiment on vacuum metastability. ███ Richardson found a generalized form of his vacuum equation, and published his findings on the subject. In response, ██████ Davies showed several new techniques for finding solutions, a number of which were used to solve several open physics problems at the time, including [REDACTED]. ██ years after the creation of the SCP Foundation in ████, the equation was classified as SCP-XXXX and the Temporal Anomalies Department was asked to retroactively classify the two men's findings.

It is unknown whether SCP-XXXX itself is anomalous, as there are no known methods to apply it to itself.
