Special Containment Procedures: Foundation webcrawlers automatically flag potential SCP-XXXX instances for review. With cooperation from major search engines and ad providers, confirmed SCP-XXXX instances are to be pulled from distribution and removed from search results.
SCP-XXXX-1 are to be contained in standard humanoid containment chambers lined with PVDF1 and retrofitted to include one permanent reinforced aquarium tank exceeding one cubic meter in volume. Stage-3 subjects may be euthanized upon request at the discretion of the Site Director.
Reports of uncontained SCP-XXXX-1 subjects are to be responded to by MTF Gamma-6 ("Deep Feeders").
Description: SCP-XXXX are online advertisements characterized by the following:
- Claims of a routine, procedure, or secret in regards to weight loss;
- Spelling or grammatical mistakes ranging from mild to severe;
- Stock photos of humans with incorrect physical features;
- A combination of the English and Hindi languages;
- A severe activated cognitohazard that immediately afflicts the viewer when the ad is clicked, causing the viewer to become an instance of SCP-XXXX-1.
The means by which SCP-XXXX manifests in ad networks is unknown. Removing SCP-XXXX once detected poses no particular challenge, and under the current containment procedures the estimated percentage of SCP-XXXX caught before human exposure is 99.992%.
SCP-XXXX's cognitohazardous properties are not activated until the ad is purposefully clicked by a conscious human, at which point the ad will redirect to a white screen and turn the viewer into an SCP-XXXX-1 subject.
SCP-XXXX-1 subjects will proceed through three distinct behavioral and physical stages, described below.
Stage-1 subjects will immediately cease other activities and seek out the nearest large body of saline water.2 Subjects claim to do this of their own volition, and remain lucid and coherent in speech. Under no circumstances, including threat of termination or sustainment of excessive bodily harm, will subjects voluntarily stop this search. In the event that a subject is physically prevented from continuing onwards, either by detainment, debilitating injuries sustained to the feet and legs during their travels, or otherwise, subjects will become agitated and attempt to assault anything, animate or not, that prevents them from moving on. Subjects may sustain severe injuries throwing themselves against confines, but will only stop when physically unable to continue.
Once Stage-1 subjects enters within approximately 2 kilometers of the nearest saline body of water, or after approximately 72 hours have passed since SCP-XXXX exposure, subjects will enter Stage-2, in which subjects lay prone, face-down, and cease all voluntary movement.
