> I've compiled all the files regarding Reporter Stranitsky's investigation into the item's
disappearance and subsequent happenings. I've locked the public access file until you
decide what to keep and what to remove, though I expect I already know your decision.
Give the order once you've looked at everything; I'll trim it up and put it back on the
public access database. Happy reading.

Item will henceforce be additionally referred to by its identificative nickname "Quiet Rifle".

The Quiet Rifle is visually a standard-issue M40A1 rifle chambered in 7.62 x 51mm and mounted with an Unertl 10x scope. However, when the rifle is fired, no sound is produced from the expanding gases nor from the bullet's sonic boom (if any). This extraphysical property is present with all brands of ammunition, but the effect works best with Acrovel Brand RIC-HP™ bullets.

It also appears to be impervious to modern science analytics, especially those regarding its ability to be reverse-engineered. The item has various practical uses (in a hypothetical mass-manufacturing process) varying from hunting to assassination.

The Quiet Rifle was given to the DEAAOO on August 17th, 1983 after the death of Administrative Member Alan Pakuta. The history of the item prior to being owned by Member Pakuta is unknown. It was originally the main rifle used by Member Pakuta on his hunting ground and in his private collection. The item's properties were known for several years; due to the Protection Clause, however, the rifle was unable to be collected. A Special Investigations Committee has determined that the Quiet Rifle did not have any significant effect in the death of Member Pakuta.

The Quiet Rifle was determined missing in September 1985. Its disappearance was investigated by the DEAAOO; its findings can be found below.
