Item #: SCP-500

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-500 must be stored in a cool and dry place away from bright light. SCP-500 is only allowed to be accessed by personnel with level 4 security clearance to prevent misapplication. SCP-500 is to remain indefinitely in storage. Access to SCP-500 is prohibited unless approved by the Site Director.

Description: SCP-500 is a small plastic can which at the time of writing contains forty-seven forty-three red pills. One pill, when taken orally, effectively cures the subject of all diseases within two hours, exact time depending on the severity and amount of the subject's conditions See Incident Report 500-2. Despite extensive trials, all attempts at synthesizing more of what is thought to be the active ingredient of the pills have been unsuccessful.

Hiding Extraneous Information

Incident Report 500-1: On 11/24/2017, SCP-500 disappeared from containment. SCP-500's containment area at the time (Site-13's Anomalous Items Wing) showed signs of forced entry, and a single crushed SCP-500 pill was discovered nearby a security checkpoint. Camera footage revealed two masked and hooded figures stealing SCP-500 via the use of advanced kinetoglyphs. Audio recovered is transcribed below.

[BEGIN LOG - 04:46]

Infiltrators are positioned in front of SCP-500's containment chamber.

Infiltrator One: I told you man, this is stupid.

Infiltrator Two: Maybe, but we can't afford to botch this mission.

Infiltrator One: Dude, he's harmless. This is a waste of time.

Infiltrator Two places his hand on his head.

Infiltrator Two: Look. Remember Walter?

Infiltrator One: Didn't he die from contracting almost every plague known to man? That was the demon we fought when we left the library that one time, right?

Infiltrator Two: That's just what they tell you.

Infiltrator One: Are you trying to tell me he died from-

Infiltrator Two: Yes, I am! He died from our fucking employer!

Infiltrator One remains silent for roughly three seconds.

Infiltrator One: …Seriously?

Infiltrator Two: Seriously. The guy's dangerous. Even the most advanced IP tracing can't locate him. I bet even the Jailers and Bookburners can't do shit. He may as well be invisible.

Infiltrator One: And you dragged me along through all this why?

Infiltrator Two: You were Walter's friend too, y'know. We're in this together. Besides, I'm sure he'd be able to kill us too if we slip up.

Infiltrator One: That just ain't possible.

Infiltrator Two: Well, it is. And we'll be on his hit list if we don't do this.

Infiltrator One shuffles slightly. Infiltrator Two begins to construct a kinetoglyph which, once completed, disables the security system protecting SCP-500's containment area. Both infiltrators move out of the radius of microphones.

[END LOG - 07:38]

Incident Report 500-2: On 11/26/2017, SCP-500 reappeared in containment spontaneously. Tests following reappearance yielded unprecedented results: D-473940 (henceforth referred to as subject) experienced symptoms of fever, hyperhidrosis1, excessive vomiting, laxative bowel movements, and tachypnea2. After roughly forty minutes in the medical ward, subject underwent spontaneous human combustion and expired. Followup experiments resulted in similar outcomes, even when subjects weren't experiencing any illness.

Addendum 500-13: Three days following Incident 500-1, Head Researcher Dr. Klein received an email from an unidentifiable address3. The email in full is replicated below.
